Plant Biology

Irrigation

The olive tree is ancient and evergreen, able

to adapt to dry and harsh climates. It blooms in spring and pollination occurs between autumn and winter, when the fruits change color from green to purplish and black.

We carefully follow the plant’s growth to obtain an excellent quality oil.

Irrigation is essential during the driest summer months to ensure good olive production.
We use drip irrigation systems, which allow a targeted and efficient water supply, avoiding water stress on the olive trees and promoting a high-quality harvest.

Cycloconium or Peacock Eye

Olive knot is a bacterial disease caused by Pseudomonas Savastanoi that affects branches, trunk and sometimes shoots.
It shows up with typical woody growths (knots) that hinder the normal flow of sap, weakening the plant and reducing productivity.
It spreads mainly in the presence of wounds and high-humidity conditions.

Cycloconium, also called Peacock Eye, is a fungal disease caused by Spilocaea oleagina that mainly affects olive leaves. It is recognized by the presence of dark circular spots with lighter halos, similar to a peacock’s eye. The disease causes a progressive leaf drop, reducing the plant’s photosynthetic capacity and compromising vigor and yield.

It develops mainly in humid, poorly ventilated environments, typical of autumn and spring periods.
